BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — The 2024 General Election is less than 80 days away on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Here is everything to know about the upcoming election.

Voter dates and deadlines in North Carolina

  • Sept. 6, 2024: Absentee ballots in the mail
  • Sept. 17, 2024: National Voter Registration Day
  • Oct. 11, 2024: Voter Registration Deadline (5 p.m.)
  • Oct. 17, 2024: In-person Early Voting begins (same-day registration available)
  • Oct 29, 2024: Absentee ballot request deadline (5 p.m.)
  • Nov. 2, 2024: In-person early voting ends (3 p.m.)
  • Nov. 5, 2024: Election Day (6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.)
  • Nov. 5, 2024: Absentee ballot return deadline (7:30 p.m.)

Ways to vote

  • Early voting: available from Oct. 17 through Nov. 2, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. The full early voting schedule with dates and times is available here.
  • Absentee-by-mail: An absentee ballot can be requested with this form. The deadline to submit it is Oct. 29 at 5 p.m.Absentee ballots will be mailed out beginning Sept. 6. Paper absentee ballots are available here.
  • General Election Day: On Nov. 5, polls will be open 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Anyone in line by 7:30 p.m. will have the opportunity to vote. Find your voting location and more information here.
