Buncombe County Redistricting Workshop

In today’s United States, shifting shapes on maps can determine who gets elected to represent us at many levels of government—and most of those maps will be redrawn this fall. This once-a-decade process is called redistricting, and this hands-on, interactive, virtual workshop, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University and MapFigure Consulting, will both explain the process and give people a chance to try drawing their own district maps. No special technical skills or prior mapping experience needed.

You’ll be able to try your hand at drawing the three NC House districts for Buncombe County (which are also the County Commission districts). There will also be some introductory slides and time for discussion at the end.
