NEWS FLASH – The Redistricting process has begun!

This is your chance to influence the process. Your comments are needed NOW!

The NC Legislature is in the process of drawing congressional districts for the next ten years NOW! 

The NC General Assembly’s Joint Senate and House Committees on Redistricting met August 5th, kicking off the drawing of new maps following the 2020 Census. Over the next several days committee members will determine the criteria they will use to draw those district maps.

NOW is the time to let the committee know how YOU think it should go.

The portal for public comment is now open at https://www.ncleg.gov/requestforcomments/38.

8/9/21 3:30 PM  – Discussion of chairs’ suggested criteria for the mapping

8/10/21 8:30 AM – Public comment on criteria and any other matter of redistricting

8/12/21 TBA – Vote on criteria

8/13/21 to the end of August – Figure out and set up public hearing schedule times and places. They’ll vote on the hearing schedule by end of August.
