Voter Services Action TEAM

Our core mission is to protect the rights of voters, help ensure free and fair elections, and educate citizens about voting and elections. What we do is among the most important work of the League. The team’s priorities include civics education, voter registration, observing County Boards of Elections, and monitoring elections administration bills in the General Assembly.

Activities

  • The team meets on the second Thursday of most months at 5:30 pm.
  • Voter Registration – train on voter registration and reach out to groups with limited access to registration and voting
  • Observing – attend County Boards of Elections to help ensure LWVAB members have current and accurate information on local elections
  • Candidate Events – Organize events, such as forums, for both primary and general elections to allow voters to meet candidates and ask questions about the issues that matter to them
  • VOTE411.org -Providing a unique online voter guide with non-partisan information about each office and candidate, including photos and contact info for every race on the ballot from top to bottom, including local races. Candidates running for the same office are posed the same set of questions so you can easily compare their responses. A one-stop-shop for election-related information.

What do members of this team do?

  • Staff tables or otherwise participate in voter registration events
  • Train volunteers on voter registration
  • Attend County Boards of Elections and report on the meetings
  • Plan candidate events, including locations, moderators, candidate invites, set up/take down
  • Follow up with candidates for VOTE411.org and/or candidate forums
